Post Blueberry Ice Survey
!!!!UPDATED MAP!!!!
Here is the current ice schedule.
What we do for Blueberry: The Orchestra is responsible for providing ice to all the food vendors at the Blueberry Festival. There are about 180 vendors that we work through-out the weekend.
How it Works: We have three stations around the park with fully stocked ice trucks at each. Every 30-40 minutes we walk around to all the food vendors to take orders and then deliver them. Vendors have a choice to run a "credit" tab for the weekend or to pay in cash at the time of delivery. Each station will have a team of students and/or parents that go around and take the orders and then take the ice back once all the orders are placed. There is also a supervisor at each station to keep track of receipts, money and make sure things run smoothly.
Expectations: Each student is expected to work at least 1 three hour shift throughout the weekend. it is important that we have this fundraiser fully staffed so that we can continue to have this relationship with Blueberry. We understand that it's an INCREDIBLY busy weekend but there are lots of options for different jobs that go along with this event. This is also why I like to get the sign-ups out to you as soon as possible.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
Regular Shifts
This where we need the majority of people to sign up. Each shift is 3 hours and does involve physical labor. There is a fair amount of walking and you will be lifting 22lb bags of ice. There are usually plenty of breaks and even time to get some food :) However, this very much depends on the weather and how busy the festival is.
Supervisors
At each station there will be a supervisor. These people are responsible for making sure that things are running smoothly at each station. They keep track of receipts, money and when orders are being taken. If there is anything the station needs or questions that come up, they will stay in contact with Mrs. Kallenberg so that we can get everyhing taken care of. Supervisors must be in at least the 11th grade or older. If a parent takes this shift, I do expect that their student will work at least part of that shift with them. I want students to be involved as much as possible!
Ice Chests and Carnival Ice
This is a new shift this year that we are trying. There are about 15 ice chests around the park that we need to keep stocked. Instead of trying to have each station be responsible for a few of these we are going to have a special crew of people that will go around to all of these and keep them stocked as needed. They will not be assigned to any specific station as they will be going ALL over the park. I would NOT suggest this position for any new families :) Their supervisor will be Mrs. Kallenberg.
Counting Money/Collecting Money/Receipt Organizing
These are slightly flexible jobs. They are listed more specifically on the sign-up page and if you are interested in these and have questions, please let me know.
Set-up Crew
We will need a small group of people to help set up all of our stations on Thursday night. This is light physical work like setting up tables and chairs and some tents.
Babysitting
My husband is a Blueberry Festival official and the reality of having 4 kids is that we will need a few babysitters throughout the weekend. My children spend the majority of the weekend either with us at the park or with their grandparents, but there are times that we will need a little help. Babysitting will take place at my house located about 1/2 a mile from Centennial park.
